I Attended A Funeral Today

"I attended a funeral today,
Where a man said goodbye to his wife.
You could tell by the tears that he shed,
That they had shared a wonderful life.

He wasn't ashamed to share his grief.
The love of his life was gone.
But he assured her thru his words
That his days and nights would be long.

He claimed her as his best friend,
His soul mate she was for sure.
Her family was her cherished prize,
Her love for them, soft and pure.

In his last love letter to his love
He said there would be less blue in the sky
That clouds would hold a little more gray
And how he wouldn't tell her 'goodbye'.

He will join the love of his life one day
When the Lord sees that the time is right.
But until that day comes for this man,
In honor of her, he will  live his life."
